Flatcap / Levi’s Bomber / Riding Pants / Jack Rogers Gold Loafers / Chambray Shirt / Similar Cardigan / Lipcolor

Okay, is anyone else obsessed with Peaky Blinders? I am so when I recently acquired this Goorin Bros. flatcap, I decided I had to do a peaky-inspired shoot. It’s the men in the show that wear them, so I wore a more masculine outfit than normal. To balance it out a little bit, I opted for a pair of fitted riding pants and a touch of glam with my favorite gold loafers. I paid homage to the flapper makeup look with a more wearable eye using a charcoal liner on just my upper lid, rosy blush on the apples of my cheeks, and a deep wine liquid lipstick.

We played around in the Lowell National Historical Park on a very cold afternoon, checking out a beautiful old train and turn-of-the-century buildings. I was walking around smiling looking at the beautiful architecture and huge factory windows, but that wouldn’t be very tough guy of me to show, would it? 😉 It was a really cool spot, and I’d love to go back when my fingers aren’t freezing off.

Thanks for keeping up,

Rachel

Winter Walk

Hey y’all,

Welcome to Sunshine & Daisies’s 2018 reboot! I plan on recommitting to this thing that I started with so much excitement in the summer but have been neglecting since mid-fall.

So with no further ado: I thought I’d start this year with a simple post, so I bundled up and went on a walk through the snow the other day. I don’t know if you guys will feel the same, but winter clothes are often depressing to me. I feel uninspired wearing lots of black, and bulky when I wear enough layers to actually stay warm in Boston. So it was a game changer when my mom gifted me this coat. It’s feminine and cute yet it keeps me warm. I get compliments every time I wear it. I love the huge shawl collar and the watch plaid. It instantly elevates any outfit I wear it with to make the whole look more festive and sophisticated. Best of all, it’s on sale for super cheap right now! So if you want a chic new piece to help you survive the last stretch of winter, get it!

I don’t have anything else to report as of now, but I’ll see you right back here so soon!

Outfit details: J.Crew maxi dress, gold anchor ring

Just a quick story from this day:

A few weeks ago, I realized I didn’t have any beach content on here yet, so I decided to chase the few hours of warmth left and get one last summer shoot in. I wore Jack Rogers sandals, this beautiful maxi dress, and classic makeup, and we drove to Devereux Beach and Castle Rock in Marblehead, MA. It was golden hour which means there’s pretty light but also a rush to get everything you want before the sun goes down. So once we got there, I just about ran into the water. I took my sandals off and held them as I frolicked in the waves. And those waves really came after me! As you can see in a couple of these pictures, the surf and the foam were no joke. I held my dress up, but about a third of it got wet anyway. And the ocean ended up taking one of my flip flops right out of my hand and swept it away! I noticed within a minute and retraced my steps all along the beach, but it was nowhere to be seen. Guess I’ll have to buy new ones next summer.

That’s all for today, thanks!

Apple Picking

IMG_3810

I discovered in September that I’m a bad apple picker. To start with, we went on a rainy Monday and I wore suede flats. Like, what kind of choice is that? So naturally, they got soaked through within minutes, and I was cold the rest of the day. Next time I’ll wear my bean boots or a pair of rain boots. Lesson learned.

It had been over a decade since I’d been so I was unpracticed at the actual picking part. I can peel apples, cut them, bake them in pies, etc, but I’m apparently bad at the tree-removal portion. I genuinely struggled and laughed my way through the whole experience. Here’s proof:

This blurry jumping pic is so funny. Also, my legs look like they’ve genuinely never seen sunshine before.

We ended up with lots of pictures with “I can’t get it off the tree” faces.

But I managed to get enough apples to fill the huge bag they’d given us before it started raining again. And I think my first baking shoot will be coming soon 🙂

It was humid, so I wore a breezy dress (on sale right now). I threw on my monogram necklace I got off etsy ages ago and a ring my sweet Nana gave me years ago. Oh, and I wore my fitbit I bought this summer from Nordstrom and wear just about all the time.
